After the sequel to Pure, Fuse, somehow managed not to suffer from the dreaded second book syndrome, I had high hopes for the third in the trilogy and I was not disappointed. Amid a plethora of post-apocalyptic worlds and dystopias, Julianna Baggott's stands out both for its remarkable world-building and for the powerful characters who inhabit it. What I most loved about Burn and its two preceding books was the way apparently grotesque and disturbing characters were transformed into people the reader could truly love. Beautifully-written and just plain gut wrenching. I wish there was more still to come!
