The Winter Sea follows the story of Cassie Holloway, a woman who had nothing going right for her. Previously trapped in an unhappy marriage and a dead-end job, shes able to leave those behind by moving to Whitby Point, a small coastal town in NSW. This is where she meets the Aquinos, a family that owns a century-old fishing business. Soon, she finds herself to be the head of a business of her own, as well as the blissful lover of Michael Aquino. All was finally going great for her until the patriarch of the Aquinos dies. The death led to the revelation of a shocking family secret, which sends her life into a downward spiral once again. Cassie, of course, wont take this lying down, thus she sets out on a mission to uncover the truth behind the secret.

Written by Di Morrisey, the gifted author flawlessly captures the beauty and the serenity of the NSW coastal town. Readers are transported to the locale that feels completely organic, leaving them in awe of its splendor. Backdrops aside, I found the story to be too light for my taste. But thats just me though, as I was looking for a more explosive story right now, I guess. Nevertheless, The Winter Sea presents a pleasing and well-written narrative, one thats ideal for lazy evenings or Sunday afternoons.

The Winter Sea by Di Morrissey was a thoroughly good read. I enjoyed it, I liked the characters and the development of the story. Very good summertime reading, anytime reading in fact.

In The Winter Sea, all that Cassie Holloway previously had in her life was a joyless job and an equally unhappy marriage. So basically, she had nothing. Her fortunes changed, though, once she moves to the tiny NSW coastal town of Whitby Point. Here, Cassie finds herself liberated from the shackles of the past, as she begins anew with a reinvigorated thirst for life. Armed with a lover and a restaurant business of her own, she finally receives everything that she has ever wanted. However, all of that is put in jeopardy when the patriarch of her lovers family dies and a scandalous family secret rears its ugly head. Now, Cassie must seek out the truth to protect her newfound happiness.

Di Morrisey has always been one of my favourite authors to read since she has the innate ability to take you to gorgeous locations with just the use of words. In fact, I always feel like a tourist whenever I read her novels. But more than that, she never fails to craft a fascinating tale that makes good use of her chosen setting. The Winter Sea is no different, as she delivers yet again with her latest effort. The story is just as beautiful as Whitby Pointits captivating throughout and finishes satisfyingly. If youre a big fan of Di Morrisey as well, then this book is a must-read.
