The Creator invented the game. The stakes were nothing less than the immortal fate of mankind. Yet when fallen angel Jim Heron was challenged to play, he had no idea the voracious demon Devina would be so formidable an adversary-or that the carnal depths to which he was willing to go could prove so fatal. Devina's more than ready to claim victory in this war and has her next scheme already underway: Sissy, a defenseless woman under the influence and an unwitting player in the fight for Heron's heart. At the defining crossroads between salvation and damnation, Heron is ready to do anything it takes to succeed-a suicide mission that will take him into Heaven and Hell, and into the darkest and most sensual shadows that lie in wait at the end of the world ...'Everything J.R. Ward writes is a must read ...she never disappoints' Christine Feehan

Immortal is the sixth and final book in the Fallen Angels series by American author, J.R.Ward. While Sissy is now safely out of Hell, the score stands at three souls to two in Devina’s favour, so Jim needs to win the next two rounds. But Nigel is in Purgatory, and there is every chance that Jim will have to take his place in Heaven, so before any thought can be given to the next soul at stake, urgent action is required, although Jim’s method certainly does not meet with Adrian’s approval.

In this instalment, Devina continues to provide humour with her OCD, Adrian has a nightmare that serves as brilliant comedy, the mystery of the self-rejuvenating house is solved, there is an exorcism, a resurrection, a surprising piece of teamwork, a visit to Home Depot, quite a bit of hot sex, and an exciting climax. The reader gets two souls for the price of one in this volume, Adrian delights with plenty of dry quips, and Dog makes an appearance or two.

It really is essential to have read the first five books to have any idea of what is going on: this is definitely not a stand-alone read. Much is explained and resolved in this instalment, although there is a hint that Adrian and Eddie may make an appearance in a future Black Dagger Brotherhood book involving a certain angel. This is a satisfying conclusion to a very addictive series.
