Victoria offers a jaw-dropping diversity of bushwalks through areas rich in natural wonders and colourful human history.

Experienced travel writer Melanie Ball has hiked every track in this book for walkers of all levels of experience. There are walks for each part of the state, including the renowned Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse loop and salt lake circuits in the Mallee region.

Most of the tracks can be completed in a few hours, but there are some more difficult multi-day walks for those wanting more of a challenge.

For each walk there is detailed trail information, a map, photographs and beautiful illustrations of fauna and flora that you're likely to see along the way.

Melanie Ball

Melbourne Ball’s career as a travel writer fell off the back of an overland expedition truck between London and Johannesburg. Over thirty-odd years since then, her articles and images have been widely published across Australia, including RACV’s Royal Auto magazine.

Her love of bushwalking well predates that big adventure, however, and she is still happiest with only hiking-boot tread between her and terra firma. Melanie has walked widely throughout Australia and in overseas regions from Tierra del Fuego to Ethiopia’s Simien Mountains.

wonderful book if you looking for something to inspire you to get out, get walking, and see some of our beautiful state. Melanie gives great detail on these walks and you can tell this book is written with great affection and love of our countryside. We are not experienced bushwalkers, but enjoy short walks. The beauty of this book is that you could do a complete walk or you can choose to do it in sections from the nearest available parking. Whatever your age and fitness level this is a beauty.
