Sofia is coping with some problems. Life is not going like she expected so she decides to get way and takes a job as a cruise ship doctor.

When she arrives onboard the week before Christmas she quickly gets absorbed by the small world of the big ships and learns how the industry works, how intensely crew members live their lives and how important good friends are in a place where there is nothing else to hold on to.
