21/06/2014I've just figured out what's going on with the books A and B being missing from different Kobo platforms. It's because the first I purchased through bookworld, and the second directly through kobo. So even though bookworld does the purchase *through* kobo, you log in under bookworld. It's confusing, but in essence I now have TWO kobo eLibraries - each invisible to the other!
The good news is that at least now I can access the second book I bought and download it to digital editions to put on my other (not Kobo Glo) eReader!
21/06/2014I got my eReader yesterday and used it for the first time today. I purchased 2 eBooks from Kobo and managed to load them onto the device. I was reading one on the train and after about 15 minutes, it just froze up. Sliding the power button to the right for several seconds seemed to reboot it (after 3 or 4 tries) and then it would be ok.....for another few pages. Then same thing. Over and over and over. And each time it froze, it would lose the last page I was reading upon reboot. Eventually it just froze up full stop - even 20 attempts at the power button trick didn't do a thing. When I came home, I tried BOTH reset methods advised on the Kobo website. Neither of them did anything at all. I plugged the eReader into my laptop and then it seemed to spring to life. For how long remains to be seen (I'm not optimistic). To make matters even worse, I thought I'd use their smart phone app to continue reading instead. Only the book I had been reading is not in my eLibrary on the app! One of two books purchased is also missing from my eLibrary in my Kobo online account. And even more incredibly, one is missing from my Kobo desktop app account too! I wouldn't be so astonished, only the missing book is DIFFERENT between the 3 platforms! That is, I bought books A and B. On the smartphone library I have A, but not B. In Kobo online, I have B but not A. And in Kobo desktop, I have A but not B.
I am thoroughly unimpressed. I've just written to their contact centre so we'll see what they say. Hopefully their customer support performs better than their device and their software!
19/06/2013Thanks Julie, I have wanted to hear from someone from Australia about the product my original Kobo (with the blue d button) I am upgrading but am hesitant as I love my current one. I did find a like on the net about the warranty so just Google Kobo glo warranty Australia and you should find what you are looking for!
Where is the warranty?
17/12/2012I would like to give my Kobo-Glo a high rating as I've had it a few days and am impressed. The touch screen and other features are a great upgrade on my previous "button" e-reader. HOWEVER, the product appears to have arrived with NO WARRANTY and I can't find out from Bookworld why this is so and what sort of coverage I have.
