Synopsis

Singing Phonics is a song collection for 3-5 year olds, specially designed to support the earliest steps in phonics teaching. It is ideal for use with the new phonics programme published by the Primary National Strategy, Letters and Sounds (focussing on Phase 1 of this programme) but will also be a highly useful addition to any phonics scheme. Singing Phonics includes a range of songs, chants and games, all designed to increase phonics awareness through, for example, developing listening and sound discrimination skills, exploring rhythm, rhyme and alliteration and practising simple oral blending and segmenting. Each song will come with activities (including photocopiable resources) and ideas for further development. Enriching children's experience of language in a fun and interactive way, Singing Phonics will help provide the best foundation for later systematic phonics learning. The pack will include a CD with sample performances of all the songs and many songs will also be familiar tunes, making it a highly user-friendly resource.
