The internationally bestselling author turns her unique gaze on the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves every day and what really goes on behind closed suburban doors.

'I guess it started with the mothers.'
'It was all just a terrible misunderstanding.'
'I'll tell you exactly why it happened.'

Pirriwee Public's annual school Trivia Night has ended in a shocking riot. A parent is dead. Was it murder, a tragic accident... or something else entirely?

Big Little Lies is a funny, heartbreaking, challenging story of ex-husbands and second wives, new friendships, old betrayals and and schoolyard politics. 'Let me be clear. This is not a circus. This is a murder investigation.'

I loved this book. It made me laugh and cry and it was easy to identify with each of the characters.

I wanted to reach the end so I could work out what had happened but on the way it took me in to the head of the main women characters. Their characters were built up layer by layer the further I progressed and when I reached the end I felt sad that the journey had ended.

This is the first book I’ve read by Liane Moriarty - and it did not disappoint! Hooked from the very beginning, I could not turn the pages quick enough to find out who died and “whodunnit”. All is not what it seems in the private lives of the families of Pirriwee public school, where parent politics create more playground drama than the kids during recess. A murder at a school trivia night launches an investigation that slowly exposes the lies and reveals a twist you'll never expect. Moriarty keeps you glued to the pages until the very end. A satisfying read for lovers of great Aussie fiction and school yard drama.
