The Sapphires is an inspirational tale set in the heady days of the late '60s when four young, talented singers from a remote Aboriginal mission are discovered and guided by an unlikely manager.

Starring Deborah Mailman, platinum selling artist Jessica Mauboy and Chris O'Dowd, this feel-good hit is based on the successful Australian stage musical and inspired by a remarkable true story.

Plucked from obscurity and branded as Australia's answer to The Supremes, The Sapphires grasp the opportunity of a lifetime when invited to entertain American troops in Vietnam. Their journey of discovery offers them not only the chance to show off their musical skills, but find love and togetherness and grow as women.

Receiving a 10-minute standing ovation at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, The Sapphires is a crowd-pleasing combination of comedy, heart and romance and an unbeatable soul music soundtrack.

The Sapphires is a movie set in the sixties, about an Australian Aboriginal female quartet who go to Vietnam to entertain the troops. It is based on a true story. It touches on racial discrimination and the stolen generation, but is mostly an entertaining story of the group labelled Australias Supremes. There is comedy and a bit of heartache and lots of great music. Some of the actors make their debut in this movie, but the acting is flawless and it has a wonderfully Aussie feel. Anyone who likes a feel-good movie with some excellent sixties music will enjoy this inspirational film.
