Offering a slice of 1920s British society, Mrs Bradley (Diana Rigg) drives the whodunit out of the drawing room: rich, stylish, sexy and dripping with glamour, she solves these intriguing, ingenious crimes with a mixture of psychoanalytic and detective powers, ably assisted by her handsome, not-as-dumb-as-he-sometimes-appears chauffeur and confidant, George Moody (Neil Dudgeon) and Inspector Christmas (Peter Davison), who invariably looks no further than his nose and arrests the wrong person. Enlivening the suspense of each investigation are Mrs Bradleys tongue-in-chic asides to camera as she seeks out the truth behind the mysteries surrounding a death at the opera, crimes of passion at a circus, poisoning and family secrets.
Based on the novels by Gladys Mitchell.
