Thoroughly engrossing, here you'll find an intimate and spectacular biography of a man who has truly lived with every ounce of energy he has, always on the move.
Now 81, celebrity neurologist Oliver Sacks, the beloved author of bestselling books such as "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" and "Musicophilia", is turning his focus inwards, looking back on his life with the candour, enthusiasm and compassion for those who people it that is always present in his writing.
This is more personal, detailed and intimate than his previous work of an autobiographical nature, "Uncle Tungsten", and it is impossible to not read this without the awareness of Sacks' recent announcement of his terminal liver cancer, and that this is most likely the last book we will see from him (barring any posthumous publication), which makes this a wonderful endnote to a life filled with magical writing.
If you've not read any Sacks then I really recommend you do. At any age, with any interest in how the brain works on so many levels, you'll find him fascinating. You can start anywhere, but why not start here?
